The College Library was established in 1963, the same year the institution was founded. It is one of the oldest Academic libraries in Nigeria. Initially, the Library was housed in a temporary building in the Shell Camp. The permanent building was completed and ready for occupying in July, 1967 before the Nigeria civil war broke out. After the war necessary repairs like re-roofing, changing of doors and locks, the Library opened in April, 1970. In 1979, a Library extension was designed

The College Library is the intellectual crossroad for the Alvan Community, promoting education, research and discourse by leading the Campus in making scholarly resources accessible.
The College Library Mission Statement
The College Library advances teaching, learning, research and discovery for Alvan Students, School and Staff by offering collections, providing access to information and establishing services and learning environments responsive to user’s needs.
Library Objectives
Briefly, the library exists to:
- Provide extensive materials (books and non-book materials) for study, teaching and research for the benefit of the students and staff of the College and other accredited persons
- Help inculcate good reading habits in the users
- Preserve the materials for future use
- Provide adequate reading spaces for library users

Engagement: To value user input in making decisions in planning our services, resources and facilities, through individual and collaborative work spaces, partner services, technology resources and expertise, the library fosters group, community and social engagement for intellectual and social endeavours.
