Date of Establishment: 1963
Brief history of the Unit: This Unit is as old as the Institution as the institution was established in 1963 as Advanced Teachers Training College, which was later changed to Alvan Ikoku College of Education (AICE), Owerri and subsequently changed to Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE), Owerri, following the Federal government takeover in 2007.
The Vision, Mission and core mandate of the Unit: The vision is to ensure that the unit continues to admit only qualified candidates for the NCE programmes in the College.
Mission: To ensure that the minimum standard and guidelines for admission of candidates are met towards the realization of the Federal Government Education Programme.
